Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 2026

Skinmate is a cosmetic skincare-learning app. It is not a medical or diagnostic tool. This policy explains what we store, why, and the control you have.

What we store

Your account: email and a display name you choose.

Your Skin Passport answers: the onboarding quiz responses. These are private to your account and are never shown to friends or used for anything medical.

Your routine: the AM and PM steps you build, including any product names you optionally add. Product names are private to your account.

Your progress: learning scores, missions, badges, coins, streaks, avatar cosmetics, and check-in history.

Your Coach chats and Circle activity (friends, shares, reactions).

Your routine data stays yours

Your routine steps and product names are never shared with other users, never sent to advertisers, and never used to infer anything about your skin or health.

The Coach is the one place your Passport answers are used to help you, and it is described in full in the next section.

The Coach, and the AI behind it

The Coach is powered by a third-party AI provider (OpenAI). To answer you, we send them your message, the recent messages in that conversation, and a short profile built from your own answers.

That profile is assembled from fixed options, never from anything you typed: how you described your skin, the textures you said you like and dislike, which product categories you already use, how confident you said you feel, and what makes routines hard for you. If you skipped a question or chose not to say, nothing about it is sent.

What is never sent: your email, your name is only your chosen display name, the product names in your routine, your Circle activity, and any answer you did not give.

The provider processes your message to generate a reply. They do not use it to train their models. Like most providers they keep a short-lived copy for abuse monitoring, so a message already sent cannot be recalled from them by deleting it here.

You can delete any conversation, or all of them, from the Coach screen at any time.

What we never do

We never diagnose, assess your skin, or make medical claims.

We never post anything to your Circle without your explicit confirmation.

We never sell your data.

Analytics

If you leave anonymous usage signals on (Privacy settings), we record coarse events like "a mission was completed", never your answers, routines, product names, coupon codes, or Coach messages. You can turn this off any time.

Coupons

Claiming a milestone coupon creates a discount code at the Badabeauty store. The code is not tied to you: no name, email, or account detail is sent to the store when it is created.

Premium subscriptions

If you subscribe, the purchase itself happens inside Apple or Google. Your card details never reach us and never pass through our servers.

We use RevenueCat to tell us whether a subscription is currently valid. Apple or Google tells them, and they tell us. What we then store against your account is only this: whether you are free or premium, whether it is active, when the current period ends, which store it came from, and an identifier for the purchase.

That record is written by the store notification, never by the app on your phone. It is deleted with your account like everything else.

Where your data lives

Your account and everything in it is stored with Supabase, which hosts our database.

The Coach sends messages to OpenAI in the United States, so using it means that message crosses a border. Nothing else in the app does.

We keep your data for as long as your account exists. Deleting the account deletes the data; we do not keep a copy afterwards.

Your rights

You can see, correct, export or erase what we hold. Most of it is editable in the app directly, and Account & Settings deletes all of it at once.

For anything the app cannot do for you — a copy of your data, a correction you cannot make yourself, or a question about why we hold something — write to hello@skinmate.co and we will answer.

If you are in the EU or UK and you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to your national data protection authority. We would rather you told us first, but that route is yours either way.

Age

Skinmate is for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly keep an account for anyone younger; if you tell us we have one, we will delete it.

Your controls

Update your Skin Passport, edit your routine, delete Coach conversations, remove friends, and delete your own shares, all in the app.

Delete your account from Account & Settings. This permanently and immediately erases everything we hold about you. Copies already held briefly by the AI provider for abuse monitoring age out on their own schedule, which is the one thing deletion here cannot reach.
